- Focus: music rights
- Reviewed, documented approach
- Performance-oriented cooperation models available
Rights administration with clear procedures.
Schloss Rights Management is a service company for music rights. On behalf of our rights partners, we review and document relevant music uses, clarify existing licensing and, where duly authorized, enable out-of-court retroactive licensing.
If a licensing matter cannot be resolved out of court, the documented file may be handed over to the rights holder or a specialized law firm for further legal review. Whether a use requires a license depends on the specific platform, the type of use, the rights involved, existing licenses and the circumstances of the individual case. Every matter is assessed individually.
What we handle for rights holders.
From reviewing individual uses to ongoing license and case management. The scope of cooperation follows the rights holder's mandate.
Music rights administration
Structured administration of your music rights and usage rights, including the rights catalog and documentation of the relevant rights positions.
Identification of commercial uses
Structured, regular review of digital and social media platforms for potentially commercial uses of your repertoire.
Review and documentation
Each relevant use is reviewed and documented individually: content, account or company, publication date, context of use and discernible license status.
Structured license status review
We review whether licenses already exist for a use, which rights are affected, and whether the conditions for licensing are met in the individual case.
Retroactive licensing
Where authorized by the rights holder, we offer appropriate retroactive licensing solutions on a case-by-case basis and support the licensing process.
Communication and case management
We handle communication with the businesses involved, maintain the case files and keep every matter transparently documented for you.
Payment and license management
Processing of agreed licenses including payment coordination, accounting and complete documentation for the rights holder.
Reporting for rights holders
Regular, understandable reports on reviewed matters, ongoing cases and realized licenses.
Referral to legal counsel
Appropriate unresolved matters can be handed over in a structured way to independent specialized legal counsel, who assess them separately under the law.
An operational infrastructure for your music rights.
Labels, publishers, catalog owners and other rights holders can identify, review, document and monetize relevant commercial music uses without building a dedicated internal operation.
The cooperation model can be designed on a performance basis, so that compensation is primarily linked to successfully realized licensing revenue. Whether and in what form a cooperation suits your catalog is clarified in a personal conversation. We do not promise guaranteed revenue or enforcement outcomes.

Were you contacted by us?
Schloss Rights Management supports rights holders in the administration, licensing and exercise of their music rights.
When we contact you regarding a specific music use, a use has been documented that is subject to review of its license status within the scope of our mandate.
Our contact is based on a concretely documented music use. Whether a sufficient right or license exists for this use is assessed on the basis of the available information and, where applicable, the evidence you submit.
If a corresponding license or other authorization exists for the use in question, you may submit the relevant evidence for review within the deadline stated in the letter.
Where licensing is insufficient and we are duly authorized by the respective rights holder, an out-of-court resolution or retroactive licensing may be offered.
Do you hold an existing license?
If you hold a license, clearance or other authorization for the music use identified in the letter, you may submit it for review quoting the file reference. After review, you will receive a response on how to proceed.
Retroactive licensing
Provided the rights holder has granted the corresponding authorization and the circumstances of the individual case allow it, Schloss Rights Management may offer an out-of-court retroactive licensing of the documented use. Retroactive licensing makes it possible to resolve the licensing matter directly with the responsible rights holder or their authorized license management.
What happens with unresolved matters?
If a matter cannot be conclusively resolved within the scope of license management, Schloss Rights Management may hand over the documented file to the respective rights holder or to a specialized law firm commissioned by them for legal review. The decision on legal measures and their execution rests with the rights holder or the commissioned law firm.
We recommend reviewing our correspondence within the stated deadline and responding to the specific matter.

Frequently asked questions.
Who is Schloss Rights Management?
A service company for music rights. We support rights holders in identifying, documenting and licensing commercial music uses on digital platforms. We are not a law firm, a government authority or a debt collection agency.
Is every commercial use of music on social platforms unauthorized?
No. Whether a use requires a license depends on the specific platform, the type of use, the rights involved, existing licenses and the circumstances of the individual case. Every matter is assessed individually.
I received a message from SRM about a music use. Does that mean I did something wrong?
No. Contacting you does not by itself constitute a determination that an infringement has occurred. It is based on a concretely documented music use whose license status is being reviewed. Please submit any existing licenses or authorizations quoting the file reference; we also recommend responding to the letter within the stated deadline.
How can I prove an existing license?
Via the contact form in the “Were you contacted by us?” section or by e-mail, quoting the file reference from our letter. After review, you will receive a response on how to proceed.
What happens if a use is not licensed?
Where we are authorized by the rights holder, we may offer an out-of-court retroactive licensing of the documented use. If the matter cannot be conclusively resolved within the scope of license management, the documented file may be handed over to the rights holder or a commissioned specialized law firm for legal review. The decision on legal measures rests with the rights holder or the law firm.
How does Schloss Rights Management work with rights holders?
Within an individual mandate: identification, review, documentation and licensing of relevant commercial uses, including case and payment management and reporting. Compensation can be performance-based, linked to realized licensing revenue.
Do you guarantee revenue or enforcement outcomes?
No. Whether a licensing can be realized depends on the individual case. We make no guarantees regarding revenue or outcomes.
Does Schloss Rights Management take legal action?
No. Schloss Rights Management is not a legal services provider. We administer rights, licensing, documentation and communication within the scope of our mandate. If a matter cannot be conclusively resolved, the documented file may be handed over to the rights holder or a commissioned specialized law firm for legal review. The decision on legal measures rests with the rights holder or the law firm.
